Kona Coffee Ocean View Farmhouse

Kona Coffee Ocean View Farmhouse

Al’s Kona Coffee Ocean View Farmhouse is actually TWO separate vacation rentals: one upstairs and one downstairs, but both are dog-friendly and AMAZING!  The ocean view is incredible, and we highly recommend this lovely, modern “farmhouse” in the heart of Kona coffee country. Address: 54-250 Lokahi Road, Kapa’au, HI  96755 Website: http://www.hawaiiislandretreat.com/ About: Hawaii Island Retreat’s “50 acres of needled grove and valley trails include legendary council stones and native trees, planted generations ago by a Hawaiian kahuna and his beloved wife.”  The owners of Hawaii Island Retreat have graciously allowed LEASHED dogs and their owners to use their hiking and jogging trails.  The one time I visited, I was unable to locate any type of trail, but I’m sure it’s somewhere here, and it’s such a beautiful location, it’s nice to just stroll around.  KEEP IN MIND: Visitors come here for meditation and a healthy living retreat, so I suggest bringing only your quietest,...

My Review: My friends from the mainland stayed here with their Golden Retriever, “Toko,” for 6 weeks in February 2015 and absolutely loved it.  I stopped by one afternoon to check it out and instantly fell in love with the apartment...

Pet fee: $100 (not refundable). Fence: No (although the property is surrounded by lush rain forest foliage and lava tubes that the dogs were intrigued with…Be careful) Yard: 2 acres of rain forest, about half of it is grassy that the dogs loved to romp in Wireless Broadband: Yes We brought our two Labs here in February 2013 for 4 days of very rainy weather (typical for Volcano, especially during the winter). There’s a huge 2-car covered carport, but our truck didn’t fit, so we parked in the mud near the front door. Upon arrival, the dogs bolted into the yard, and I could tell they found a scent. I discovered later that the groundskeepers feed the large pheasants who tend to hang out in the open yard area. If you have hunting type dogs, I advise keeping an eye on your dogs or keep them on leash.  Large water/mud...
