My Furry Valentine 2019
Despite the wind and rain, we had a successful My Furry Valentine at The Shops at Mauna Lani on February 10, 2019! We raised over $500 for Hawaii Island Humane Society and Aloha Ilio Rescue.
We had 16 vendors selling items or services for dogs and dog lovers as well as food vendors and a dog-friendly beer garden sponsored by Big Island Brewhaus. There was something for everyone!
22 entries in the Valentine theme canine costume contest to win prizes from Mokulele Airlines, Sushi Shiono, and Keri Nakahashi Photography! Miss Hawaii Collegiate 2019 Kyra Alcoran emceed the costume contest.
While we tallied the votes for the costume contest, Dawn Goehring of Animal Biz Behavior and Training and Debbie Lewis of Petamorphosis put on an interactive show on “Why Does My Dog Do That?”
Keri Nakahashi Photography took kissing booth photos to benefit Hawaii Island Humane Society and Aloha Ilio Rescue
Adoptable dogs were available from Hawaii Island Humane Society and Aloha Ilio Rescue. All but two dogs were adopted at the event!
Mahalo to our vendors, volunteers, Shops at Mauna Lani, Big Island Brewhaus, our emcees Keith Vachon and Kyra Alcoran, and everyone who came out (despite the crazy weather!) to this dog-friendly event to have fun and helps raise money for Hawaii Island Humane Society and Aloha Ilio Rescue! We look forward to seeing you again at future dog-friendly events, including My Furry Valentine 2020 on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020!
